ITEM NAME: Gottlieb-Daimler Memorial

The world-famous German engineer, design engineer and industrialist Gottlieb Daimler was born in 1834 in Schorndorf near Stuttgart.
1882 Daimler moved with his family in a villa in Cannstatt and rebuilt the garden shed to the workshop for his constructions and experiments.

There he tinkering around with Wilhelm Maybach to the idea of individual mobility.
These two worked day and night under absolute secrecy and neither family nor employee knew what went into the cottage in the garden in front of himself.
In 1886, Daimler built its engine in a horse-drawn carriage, which he considered the inventor of the four-wheeled car.

After successful engine inventions, the Garden House for Daimler and Maybach was soon too small and Daimler moved with his workshop in 1887 into a larger factory building.

Today, the garden is a beautifully original and detail-oriented Memorial.
Here are displayed the first steps towards the invention of the gasoline engine and the Daimlersche vision for vehicles to water, on land and in the air to construct a portable universal motor, is still palpable in the premises.
